Frequently Asked Questions for Soccer

Q:  When does the 2019 season start?

Evaluations/Assessments for the Spring Flag Football Program will be held on February 23rd.


Q:  What are the time slots for the player evaluations/assessments?

Evaluations are on Sunday, February 23rd at the following times:

 • (U4) 3-4 years of age  :  11:00 - 12:00
     • (U6) 5-6 years of age  :  12:00 - 1:00
     • (U8) 7-8 years of age  :  2:00 - 3:00
     • (U10) 9-10 years of age  :  3:00 - 4:00
     • (U12) 11-12 years of age  :  5:00 - 6:00
     • (U14) 13-14 years of age  :  5:00 - 6:00



Q:  When are games played?

All games will be played on Saturdays.


Q:  How many days a week are practices held?

Teams may practice twice a week until the first game of the season.  After that, teams may only practice once a week.


Q:  Can my child play Soccer if they are playing other sports?

YES!  We are scheduling practices and games to avoid conflicts with other sports.


Q:  What is the cut off date for determining player placement according to age?

Players are aligned in Divisions according to their age as of January 1st of the year in which the season is played.

Examples:

 • If a player is 3-4 years of age on January 1st, then that player will be eligible to play in the (U4) 3/4 year old Division.
 If a player is 5-6 years of age on January 1st, then that player will be eligible to play in the (U6) 5/6 year old Division.
 If a player is 7-8 years of age on January 1st, then that player will be eligible to play in the (U8) 7/8 year old Division.
 If a player is 9-10 years of age on January 1st, then that player will be eligible to play in the (U10) 9/10 year old Division.
 If a player is 11-12 years of age on January  1st, then that player will be eligible to play in the (U12) 11/12 year old Division.
  • If a player is 13-14 years of age on January 1st, then that player will be eligible to play in the (U14) 13/14 year old Division



Q:  What is included in the fees for soccer?

The registration fee for the season includes your game jersey, game shorts, game socks. 


Q:  What size soccer balls the teams use?

Our teams will use the following size soccer balls:

 •(U4) 3-4 year old :Size 3
(U6) 5-6 year old : Size 4
(U8) 7-8 year old : Size 4
 (U10) 9-10 year old : Size 4
(U12) 11-12 year old:Size 5
 (U14) 13-14 year old : Size 5



Q:  What equipment do we need to purchase?

Players will need soccer cleats and a strapless mouth guard. 


Q:  How will I know if practice/games are cancelled due to rain?

After teams have been selected, all communication concerning practices will come directly from your coaching staff.  In general, we do not cancel practices due to light rain. If it is pouring or if lightning is in the area, we will not practice. Your coach will have the final say of your practice schedule.


Q:  How are coaches certified?

Coaches are required to complete a Coaches Training Clinic (online course) to be a certified Spring Hill Hawks coach.
