Frequently Asked Questions for Soccer


Q:  When are games played?

Games for the 2020 Fall Season will start on September 12th.  All games will be scheduled for Saturdays.  If games are cancelled due to weather issues, make-up games will be rescheduled on a best effort basis.


Q:  How many days a week are practices held?

Teams may only practice once a week. All practices are held at Port Royal Park. 


Q:  Can my child play Soccer if they are playing other sports?

YES! 
We are scheduling practices and games to avoid conflicts with other sports.


Q:  What is the cut off date for determining player placement according to age?

Players are aligned in Divisions according to their birth year which will align them with the correct age group in which the season is played.

Examples:

 • For the 2020 season, if a player is born in 2016-2017, then that player will be eligible to play in the U4 Division.
 For the 2020 season, if a player is born in 2014-2015, then that player will be eligible to play in the U6 Division.
 For the 2020 season, if a player is born in 2012-2013, then that player will be eligible to play in the U8 Division.
 For the 2020 season, if a player is born in 2010-2011, then that player will be eligible to play in the U10 Division.
 For the 2020 season, if a player is born in 2008-2009, then that player will be eligible to play in the U12 Division.
  • For the 2020 season, if a player is born in 2006-2007, then that player will be eligible to play in the U14 Division



Q:  What is included in the fees for soccer?

The registration fee for the season includes your game jersey, game shorts, and game socks. 


Q:  What equipment do we need to purchase?

Players will need soccer cleats, shin guards, and appropriate size ball. 


Q:  What size soccer balls the teams use?

Our teams will use the following size soccer balls:

      • U4 Divsion  :  Size 3
       • U6 Divsion  :  Size 3
     • U8 Divsion  :  Size 4
     • U10 Divsion  :  Size 4
     • U12 Divsion  :   Size 5
     • 
U14 Divsion  :  Size 5



Q:  How will I know if practice/games are cancelled due to rain?

After teams have been selected, all communication concerning practices will come directly from your coaching staff.  In general, we do not cancel practices due to light rain.  If it is pouring or if lightning is in the area, we will not hold practice.  Your coach will have the final say of your practice schedule.


Q:  How are coaches certified?

Coaches are required to complete a Coaches Training Clinic (online course) and background check to be a certified Spring Hill Hawks coach.
